Minerals

Minerals are either considered to be macrominerals or trace minerals. A healthy diet consists of a balance of the two.

Minerals are inorganic compounds and are found in earth material and foods found in every level of the food pyramid. Some minerals, called essential minerals, are necessary for human health. Examples of these include calcium, iron and potassium. A balanced diet includes healthy amounts of essential minerals.
