Watson Functionally Optimized Nutrients
Watson Functionally Optimized Nutrients are vitamins, minerals, botanicals, amino acids, sweeteners, carbohydrates, fats (oils), botanicals, fibers and acids designed to provide specific functionality and benefits as desired by the customer.

Granulated & Agglomerated Nutrients
Granulation is a process of forming granules from a powder substance, allowing them to be more easily compressible in tableting. Agglomeration is a form of granulation that involves making particles larger in order for them to become more soluble in liquid or to improve the flowabiltiy of a powder.
For Beverage Formulations
Agglomeration “instantizes” the powder or makes it more dispersible. This involves rewetting the finished powder with a material (soy or sunflower lecithin), allowing the fine particles to stick together to create a much larger particle. When liquid is added, the particle’s large surface area increases its solubility, allowing it to dissolve faster.
For Compressible Tablet Formulations
Granulation and Agglomeration creates a more free-flowing powder. Consistency in physical properties such as flowability, particle size distribution, and compression profile are critical when producing a compressible tablet. All Watson agglomerations and granulations are available in starch-free formulations for use in dietary supplements with special labeling requirements.
Microencapsulated nutrients have a protective coating called a matrix applied around a small particle called the core or active. The matrix keeps the active ingredient locked in and stabilized until the release of the material is desired.
